Neurologyca, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence (AI) company, recently revealed its “human context” AI platform. They claim it could fundamentally change the way wellness devices and applications interact with people.
Unlike traditional wearables, which focus on fitness and physiological data (such as steps taken, heart rate and sleep duration), Neurologyca’s platform interprets emotional states in real time by analyzing micro-expressions, blink rates, posture and vocal tone.
The company claim that this approach allows its AI to detect early signs of depression, burnout or fatigue, issues that mainstream wellness trackers often misclassify or miss altogether.
The platform is also designed to be integrated into existing applications, allowing wellness providers to integrate “emotional intelligence” directly into their offerings. The data processing also happens locally on the user’s device, which Neurologica argues is faster and safer from a customer privacy perspective.

What are the implications of Neurologyca’s AI promise on customer experience (CX)?
Trust, including data privacy concerns, has been a major stumbling block in digital health technology. Studies consistently show that users disengage from wellness apps when they feel misunderstood, when data feels irrelevant, or when they worry about how their information might be used.
Take a 2022 qualitative study on adults using mHealth apps and smart speakers, for example. They found that the privacy concerns the individual affects their behavior, meaning they were cautious about what data they shared and more importantly, these concerns influenced their intention to continue using the app. Discomfort with how data might be used leads to reduced engagement over time.
How will Neurologyca address concerns around consumer trust?
Similarly, smartwatches that confuse excitement for stress, or platforms that push generic wellness advice, often leave customers skeptical. In moments of uncertainty, it still begs the question of how systems should communicate uncertainty to customers? Transparency could be as important as raw accuracy in these moments, perhaps. If experiences feel judgmental, or even intrusive, customers may disengage – a common ongoing challenge for all emotionally adaptive systems.
“Customer trust is built through transparency and governance of AI systems,” says Jaakko Lempinen, head of strategy and services at Yle. As outlined in CX Network’s Global State of CX 2025 report, awareness of how AI works and uses customer data featured as a top 10 customer behavior for the second time this year. This is a result of customers becoming better educated on how data is collected and used.
Moreover, customers will need to understand why a system thinks they are stressed or fatigued and platforms will need to present that information in language that emphasizes agency, not surveillance.
