Heather Shoemaker is the Chief Executive Officer of Language IO, where she leads the company’s mission to make global customer conversations accurate, secure and human at scale. Under her leadership, Language IO helps enterprise organizations deliver high-quality multilingual support while meeting the demands of security, compliance and customer experience.
Heather is recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in AI and is a leading voice on responsible AI and gender bias in language technology. Her work in this area has been featured in Fortune Magazine and presented on the main stage at SXSW, where she speaks on building AI systems that reflect fairness, accountability and human values.
With a career spanning AI, product leadership and globalization, Heather has built and scaled platforms for some of the world’s most complex enterprises. Prior to co-founding Language IO, she led globalization and product initiatives for Fortune 500 companies and served as Senior Director of Product Management and Globalization at eCollege, helping launch a next-generation online education platform that scaled globally following its acquisition by Pearson.
Heather holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Washington. She has lived and worked across the United States and Mexico and is fluent in English and Spanish
