Anju Gupta

Vice President, Data Science and Analytics Northwestern Mutual

Anju Gupta is Vice President of Data Sciences and Analytics for Northwestern Mutual. In this role, Gupta oversees data science strategy and data science product development for the company’s data assets and develops insights that positively impact the company’s future – from enhancing day-to-day operations and customer interactions to leading strategic decision-making and technology innovation efforts. Gupta joined Northwestern Mutual in October 2019 and has been instrumental in shaping all of company’s major initiatives. Prior to that, she held the role of Vice President of Data Strategy and Analytics for Enterprise Holdings, the largest car rental company globally. Before that, Gupta was at Monsanto for more than a decade where she worked in statistical genetics, global analytics, technology strategy, and digital innovation, partnerships and outreach. More recently, she was a proven leader and innovator at Syngenta in Washington D.C., where she served as Vice President of Sustainability Campaign. In this role, Gupta was responsible for managing the organization’s global social media analytics and campaign strategy and was an active member of Syngenta’s Foundation Board. In her current role, Gupta oversees the company’s data science strategy and analytics efforts and is responsible for supporting the newly established Center of Excellence for Data Sciences & Analytics (DSA). Led by Gupta, DSA is tasked with delivering enhanced insights and processes that will promote an innovative and strategic data-driven future for Northwestern Mutual. Gupta is an active member in the community, serving as an executive advisory board member for Artificial Intelligence World, which is owned by Cambridge Innovation Institute. Gupta has also earned several awards, including the YWCA Women Leader award in 2014, the CIO100 Innovation Award in 2018, and several Above and Beyond Awards for her innovative work with Monsanto. Currently, Gupta holds 17 granted and published patents and her reputation as a world-class expert in data and analytics has made her an in-demand speaker for artificial intelligence (AI) conferences across the country. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Life Sciences from India. In 2003, she earned her Ph.D. in Genetics and Statistics from The Ohio State University.
