Laura Kirk

Vice President of External Education, Academy of Communication in Healthcare and Assistant Director, Advanced Practice Providers University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

Laura Kirk is the Assistant Director of Advanced Practice Providers- Ambulatory Services at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and the Vice President of External Education for the Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH). In addition to her administrative roles, PA Kirk also maintains an ambulatory otology practice at UT Southwestern.

She completed a fellowship in healthcare communication and is recognized as faculty and fellow in ACH for her service designing and facilitating workshops and interactive sessions related to Relationship-Centered Communication for clinicians, administrative leaders, and interprofessional teams. PA Kirk is also certified in patient experience as a CPXP, initiated a telehealth communication pilot program at UT Southwestern, and serves on the health system’s Patient Experience committee and Provider Training workgroup as a subject matter expert. In 2022, PA Kirk completed the UT Southwestern Peer Coaching certification program, and she provides professional coaching to physicians and advanced practice providers. Her academic interests in communication include remediation of communication skills and interprofessional collaboration.
