I have been in my role of Head of Employee Experience for around a year. Before that I had been leading on communication and engagement in various departments within the same organisation, UCL. I’m the first Head of Employee Experience UCL has had, and I think a large part of creating that role was down to two new leadership hires who came from outside the higher education sector. Like many universities, we understood the importance of the student experience but until now hadn’t shifted that focus to our employees.
The two main projects I’m focussing on right now are: moving to a new way of welcoming our staff (onboarding); and using new technologies to measure, evaluate and improve, our employee engagement.
