Christian Pedak is CEO of LAMIE direkt, one of Europe’s fastest growing InsurTECHs. As a passionate innovator, Christian is shaping the future of insurance through constantly creating unique insurance solutions. At a very early stage of his career he got in touch with the insurance industry working as broker in the second generation family owned broker house from 2004 onwards. Since his early days he gained reputation for being among top leading InsurTECH expert by implementing successful B2B2C insurances programs together with Telcos operators since 2006. As core UPS these programs are embedded horizontally within the partners ecosystem and are now operational in 7 European markets, such as Austria, Bulgaria and Slovenia. In 2015 he founded the insurance start-up “LAMIE direkt”, which has became one of Europe’s few digital full-stack InsurTECHs operating in more than 10 countries with a total active customer base of more than 450.000 customers and more than 70 employees. He studied law at the University of Vienna and the University of Southern California and finance at the London School of Economics.
Exceeding customer expectations is what provides the wow factor. While digitally-born companies have established that standard, they’ve made it all the more difficult for Telco’s to match, let alone exceed it. But the strategic question for Telco’s continues to be ‘what’s the next growth engine?’ Diversifying the Telco value proposition beyond voice and data services is essential, but understanding where to diversify and how to deliver value in typically unfamiliar territory is informed by what customers want. A good understanding of customer needs guides us on choosing the big bets; and a good understanding of their expectations maximises the chances of success.
